Hannah Byrne: Clarinetist

Get To Know Me!

I was born in 1998 and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. From the young age of 12, I immediately fell in love with the clarinet, playing in middle school band. Throughout the rest of my schooling in Missouri, I participated in multiple local orchestras such as the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, where I was commended for my musicianship and leadership abilities. During my high school career at Barat Academy, I competed in multiple state competitions, both for solo and ensemble placements, where I grew my passion for the clarinet. During my senior year of high school, I taught preschoolers at Chesterfield Academy Day Care Center. From experiencing all of these incredible opportunities, I realized I wanted to pursue a career in playing the clarinet.

After graduating high school, I attended the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, and completed my Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance. There, I had performed in multiple world premieres, recordings, and once in a lifetime pieces and concerts. During the summers, I worked, learned and performed in unique camps, such as the SICPP and Buffet Crampon USA Summer Academy. There, I was commended for my clarinet abilities and professionalism while working in an ensemble. From Cincinnati I moved to Kansas City and graduated with my Master’s of Music Degree in clarinet performance from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. During this time, I continued to participate in incredible musical experiences and solidified in my clarinet performing and teaching capabilities. After graduating I returned to St. Louis I started my studio, and teaching and performing in the area.

Aside from clarinet, I also enjoy baking, crafting, traveling, and playing with my dogs. Currently I am an Usher at St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, a substitute teacher and clerk at Fort Zumwalt School District, performing the clarinet at gigs around the area, and continuing to expand my clarinet studio.
